Gropp House - Quogue, New York
The owners and architect agreed that the house was to simple and reflective
of traditional house forms in the area. The plan separates active living
areas on the lower floor from the sleeping quarters on the second floor,
with a separate activities/guest building on the side.
Orientation are to the south and west for solar gain. An active domestic
hot water system is installed on the south-facing roof of the outbuilding.
Movable shutters are provided over large glass areas to conserve heat in
the winter and keep the house cool in the summer.
