Manhattan School of Music - Manhattan, NY
When the architects renovated the former Julliard School of Music into a new home for the
Manhattan School of Music, the key goal was to reorder the old structure to create a new
student and activities center and add a wing to house a cafeteria. The cafeteria opens
onto a private walled garden - an oasis in this urban area.
The existing auditorium and library were completely rehabilitated and the entire building
sound proofed to isolate practice areas from one another and to eliminate distracting street noises.
